I called it that because it's a recipe from my grandmother with ammonia sheets like she did in her time. Although I don't like the smell of ammonia, I tried the recipe and it came out very good and fluffy and the smell of ammonia disappears once the cake has cooled. .

Preparation time: less than 90 minutes

RECIPE PREPARATION Grandma Cake:

Knead the leaf ingredients and make two sheets that are baked on the bottom of a rectangular tray over low heat. Fill the sheets with this composition and powder on top with powdered sugar. If you like it and you have time, you can make small burnt sugar ornaments on top.

  • 100 ml of milk
  • 50 gr sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • For meringue:
  • 3 egg whites
  • 120 gr sugar
  • juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • For decoration:
  • 50 gr coarsely ground walnuts
  • 50 gr grated chocolate

How to prepare fruits for the plum and walnut cake?

I prepared the plums: I washed them and peeled them. I caught some fine, fragrant, sweet and ripe plums.

I took out the seeds and then cut them into quarters.

Now comes the trick: I sprinkled the plums with sugar and ground cinnamon and mixed them lightly.

Then I left the bowl on the table for 30 minutes, until the dough leavened. During this time, the plums leave a lot of juice, a juice that we don't really need in the first phase of baking the plum and walnut cake. After this time we strained the plums through a sieve and carefully collected all the syrup spilled from them & # 8211 we need it later!

How to assemble the plum and walnut cake?

I heated the oven to 200 C with ventilation (high stage for gas).

I laid a 30 x 25 cm tray with baking paper (cut larger so as to line the side walls). I turned the leavened dough directly into it and flattened it with my palms, from close to close. It goes very easy! I also formed some side edges of 1-2 cm so that the plum juice does not flow under the dough.
